We have just opened an addtional butterfly garden zone which visitors can walk through or sit for a rest, seeing more butterflies and flowers. We have also a coffee conner served in or in front of the butterfly garden.
We have two butterfly gardens. The total flying gardens are about 500 squares meters. It is maybe the largest captive butterfly gardens in Chiang Mai which enough to fill-in some hundreds to a thousand of butterflies. We grow various kinds of flower plants which are nectar plant sources for the adult butterflies as well as many larval food-plants for the butterfly caterpillars. We have put named-tags on plants as many as we can in order to remember them and to educate the public.

There is a small artificial waterfall and a small pond for increasing some degrees of moisture and reducing the heat in the garden during the hot day. A simple cottage building inside is a butterfly  pupal zone for releasing newly emerging butterflies from the pupal stage regularly. There are numerous common butterfly species and some rare ones we breed normally especially the golden and the common birdwings. The life of an adult butterfly is rather short. Most of them normally last only a few days or 5-7 days in average. Under the bad climatic conditions and shortage of food supplies the life of adult butterflies will be even shorter.

Some large moths especially the giant silkworms do not bear the proboscis which is for feeding. Therefore they do not feed. They emerge to be adults for mating, the female soon after lays her eggs then will die.
The maintain cost to have regularly high numbers of butterflies in the garden is high. Anyhow, we do our best to obtain at least the optimum numbers of them in our garden. We would suggest the best times to see many butterflies should be in the rainy season, during April to October. Then you will be enjoyed watching and photographying the beautiful butterflies as many as you like.
