Rice caseworm, Nymphula depunctalis หนอนปลอกข้าว นานๆ จะพบการระบาดสักครั้ง

The rice caseworm feeds on rice during the seedling and tillering stages. The larval habit of cutting mostly the apical part and forming the leaves of rice plants into tubes or cases and enclosing itself within them. Some cases floating on water move to other area by wind. The rice caseworm is commonly found in rice fields in low populations and sporadic outbreak. Other hostplants include Echinochloa crus-galli (หญ้าข้าวนก), Echinochloa colona (หญ้าข้าวนกสีชมพู), Leptochloa chinensis (หญ้าดอกขาว), for examples.
หนอนปลอกข้าว หนอนกัดกินปลายใบ ทำปลอกจากใบข้าวที่กัดกินหุ้มตัว และกัดขาดจนลอยไปตามน้ำ โดยลมช่วยพัดพาไป ทำให้แพร่ระบาดไปทั่วแปลงนา พืชอาหาร ข้าว หญ้าข้าวนก หญ้าข้าวนกสีชมพู และหญ้าดอกขาว เป็นต้น ตัวเต็มวัยมีสีขาวมีจุดสีดำและสีน้ำตาลอ่อนกระจายอยู่บนปีกทั้งสองคู่ ระบาดเป็นครั้งคราว
