It is a tropical pest which occurs in Asia and Africa. The damages caused by larvae which feed on fruits. Eggs are laid on leaves and young shoots. Hatching larvae crawl to the nearest shoots or fruits and bore inside. There 6 larval instars, the last instar larva bores exit hole and pupates in plant debris on the soil surface, usually near the stem of the host plant. Adults are white with brown, with wingspan of 18 to 24 mm.
หนอนเจาะผลมะเขือ เป็นแมลงศัตรูมะเขือที่สำคัญในเอเชียและแอฟริกา ความเสียหายที่เกิดจากการเจาะกินในผลมะเขือทำให้ผลเน่า ร่วง แม่ผีเสื้อวางไข่ไว้ที่ใบและยอดอ่อน หนอนที่ฟักออกมารจะเจาะเข้าไปในยอดหรือผลอ่อนที่อยู่ใกล้ๆ หนอนมี 6 วัย หนอนวันสุดท้ายเจาะรูออกมาเพื่อเข้าดักแด้ตามเศษพืชหรือผิวดินที่อยู่ใกล้กับลำต้น ผีเสื้อตัวเต็มวัยมีสีขาวแต้มน้ำตาลมีปีกกว้าง 18-24 มิลลิเมตร
