The Three-colored Kaiser Butterflies, Penthema darlisa Moore, 1879 ผีเสื้อไกเซอร์สามสี ที่พบในประเทศไทย
I had a chance to see The Blue Kaiser at Botanical Garden at Mae Rim on 8.v.2008. It is one of the three subspecies known from Thailand following to the Butterflies of Thailand 2nd edition which are as follows:

Distribution: Confined to PT (Ranong, Surat Thani).
ผีเสื้อไกเซอร์สามสี ที่พบในประเทศไทยมี 3 ชนิดย่อยดังปรากฏชื่อและสถานที่ที่พบข้างต้น ผู้เขียนมีโอกาสพบตัวที่เห็นเมื่อ 8 พฤษภาคม เมื่อตอนไปบุกเบิกสร้างสวนสัตว์แมลงสยามใหม่ๆ ที่แม่ริม เชียงใหม่ หรือเมื่อ 3 ปีมาแล้ว ตัวที่เห็นเป็น ผีเสื้อไกเซอร์น้ำเงิน สีน้ำเงินเป็นสีเหลือบน้ำเงินที่บนปีก และใต้ปีกอาจจะเห็นสีขาวและน้ำเงินจางๆ ได้ ผีเสื้อไกเซอร์ดำ มีสีน้ำตาลเข้มจนถึงดำ ลายสีขาวมักมีน้อยจนถึงไม่มีลวดลายเลย พบที่พะเยา ส่วนผีเสื้อไกเซอร์เหลืองหายากและมีขนาดใหญ่มาก พบที่ระนองและสุราษฎร์ธานี ผีเสื้อสกุลนี้มักเชื่องและพบดูดกินสารอาหารตามพื้น บางทีชอบเข้ามาอยู่ใกล้บ้านเรือนที่ปลูกไว้ใกล้ป่าด้วย

Ypthima baldus baldus (Fabricius, 1775)
Wingspan 30-40 mm. Male, UN high contrast between white and brown striations, prominent dark discal and postdiscal fasciae, the latter broader below at near dorsum of FW and tends to enlarge as foot-shaped in male, two dark ocelli in space 1b rather small and generally counted as one ocellus, those in spaces 2 and 3 touching each other or nearly so, same as the ones in spaces 5 and 6, infrequently an additional small ocellus present in space 4. Lfp. Pogonatherum crinitum หญ้าไผ่หยอง.
ผีเสื้อสีตาลจุดตาห้าธรรมดา เป็นผีเสื้อในสกุลเดียวกับผีเสื้อสีตาลจุดตาสี่ธรรมดา แต่มีจำนวนตามากกว่า โดยทั่วไปจุดตาในช่อง 1b มีสองตาที่อาจเชื่อมติดกันเป็นตาเดียวในที่นี้จึงนิยมนับเป็นตาเดียว ส่วนตาในช่อง 2, 3 และ 5, 6 อาจจะวางอยู่ใกล้กันหรือติดกัน สีพื้นด้านใต้ปีกค่อนข้างตัดกันระหว่างสีอ่อนและสีเข้ม ผีเสื้อกลุ่มนี้จำแนกชนิดค่อนข้างยาก และน่าเสียดายมีคนให้ความสนใจน้อย

Wingspan 28-32 mm. A small species and the only four-rings. UN with four ocelli in spaces 1b, 2, 3 and 6 of HW, the ocellus in space 3 is much smaller than others in both sexes.Distribution: N-TM, V (Chanthaburi, Songkhla, Than To).
ผีเสื้อสีตาลจุดตาสี่ธรรมดา เป็นผีเสื้อสีเทาปนน้ำตาลอ่อนขนาดเล็กที่บินตามหญ้าและพุ่มไม้เพื่อรับแสงแดดในยามเช้า พบทั่วไปจนคนมักไม่สนใจ ผีดสื้อในสกุลนี้มีหลายชนิดและจำแนกชนิดค่อนข้างยากด้วยเช่นเดียวกัน ภาพที่เห็นได้จากเขาสอยดาว จุดตาที่ 3 ที่อยู่ใต้ปีกคู่หลังมีขนาดเล็กมาก

It differs from M. anaxias in having a prominent ocellus in space 2 on UpF and a paler subapical white bar, male with broader FW than the former species; UN subapical bar on FW is purplish-white, the outer edge of discal line narrower purplish-white, ocelli on both wings are darker than those of the former species. The Siamese Ringlet, Ragadia critias Riley & Godfrey, 1921
Thanks to Mr. Adrian?and Pia Plant?who sent me a value photo taken at Doi Phu Kha, Nan in December 2007 to confirm?our record of this endemic species of Thailand. It is one of a very rare and interesting butterfly species. It is similar to R. crisilda, but differs in having ocelli only in spaces 1b, 2, 4 and 6 on UnH while that of the latter with also an ocellus in space 5. For further information, please see p. 292 and Plate 118, Butterflies of Thailand (Ek-Amnuay, 2006) in comparing Ragadia critias with Ragadia crisilda. Wingspan 35-45 mm. Distribution: TT-L (Doi Phu Kha, Nan Province).
ผีเสื้อวงแหวนสยาม เป็นผีเสื้อเฉพาะถิ่นที่พบจากดอยภูคา จังหวัดน่าน เป็นผีเสื้อที่หายากและมีคนรู้จักน้อย แต่มีผู้ตั้งขื่อสามัญไว้โดยใช้ชื่อสยามเพื่อเป็นเกียรติแก่ท้องถิ่นคือประเทศไทยซึ่งเป็นแหล่งกำเนิดผีเสื้อชนิดนี้ ขอขอบคุณ คุณแอนเดรียนและคุณเปีย ที่ส่งรูปซึ่งถ่ายเมื่อเดือนธันวาคม 2550 มาให้ดู ซึ่งเป็นการยืนยันรายงานการค้นพบผีเสื้อชนิดนี้ในประเทศไทย
