Parthenos sylvia (Cramer, 1775)
Wingspan 48-75 mm. Sexes similar, but female much larger, HW with a weak dentate at vein 4 and rather crenulated at margin of both wings. UP green or blue-green with black and white markings, subspecies lilacinus usually smaller and more blue than green at basal halves whereas those of gambrisius usually green, FW with white hyaline discal spots and HW with two large white costal spots in spaces 6 and 7. The Clipper is a fast flying butterfly and has a habit of flying with its wings flapped stiffly, glide and flapping, between the horizontal position and a few degrees below the horizontal 1-2 meters above the ground. ผีเสื้อช่างร่อน หรือ ผีเสื้อขลิบมรกต เป็นผีเสื้อขนาดกลาง ปีกกว้าง 48-75 มิลลิเมตร ทั้งสองเพศมีลักษณะคล้ายกัน ปีกด้านบนมีสีเขียว หรือเขียวอมน้ำเงิน มีแต้มสีดำและขาว ที่พบในประเทศไทยมีสองชนิดย่อย ชนิดย่อยที่พบในภาคใต้มีขนาดเล็กกว่าชนิดที่พบในภาคอื่นเล็กน้อย แต่มีสีเขียวอมน้ำเงินเข้มมากกว่าที่โคนปีกออกมาประปมาณกึ่งกลาง ผีเสื้อช่างร่อนได้ชื่อมาจากนิสัยการบินที่ร่อนสลับกับการบินในระดับที่ต่างกันขึ้นๆ ลงๆ สูงประมาณ 1-2 เมตรจากพื้นดิน ในขณะที่ชื่อผีเสื้อขลิบมรกตมาจากสีด้านบนปีกซึ่งโดดเด่นมาก อนึ่งชื่อสกุล sylla มีการใช้ในญี่ปุ่น แต่ก็มีเสียงคัดค้านจากซีกโลกตะวันตกและยังคงใช้ตามชื่อ sylvia ด้วยเหตุจาก Bulletin ของพิพิธภัณฑ์อังกฤษ

ผีเสื้อจ่าเส้นปีกดำ เป็นผีเสื้อขนาดกลางซึ่งส่วนใหญ่มีสีขาวดำ เช่นเดียวกับกลุ่มผีเสื้อกลาสี (Neptis) แต่รูปร่างค่อนข้างหนาแข็งแรงกว่า และมีแถบขาวพาดผ่านส่วนท้อง ปีกคู่หน้าของผีเสื้อจ่าเส้นปีกดำ มีจุดขาวในเซลล์ 3-5 จุด จุดใกล้ปลายปีก 3 จุด มีแถบขาวกว้างพาดกลางปีกจากปีกหน้ามาปีกหลัง ที่ใกล้ขอบปีกคู่หลังมีจุดน้ำตาลอ่อนปนขาวสองแนว ในภาพเป็นเพศเมียซึ่งมีขนาดใหญ่กว่าเพศผู้เล็กน้อย ภาพจากเขาใหญ่ ผีเสื้อสนใจขาตั้งกล้องเป็นพิเศษคงมีเกลือเค็มๆ ซึ่งมาจากเหงื่อที่ติดอยู่นั่นเอง

Wingspan 40-55 mm. UP chocolate brown with pale yellow spots, two prominent large ocelli in space 2 of FW and space 5 of HW, also small ocelli in space 5 of FW and space 2 of HW, HW weakly dentated at vein 4. It is one of the most common species found in Thailand. Because of the wide range of its larval food-plants (Lfp.). The Lfp. include Alternanthera sessilis (Ama.) ผักเป็ดไทย, Hemigraphis schomburgkii (Aca.) ขาไก่, Hygrophila erecta (Aca.) ต้อยติ่งนา, Lepidagathis incurva (Aca.) หญ้าขนไก่, Ruellia graecizans (Aca.) ถุงน้อยพลอยแดง, Pluchea indica (Comp.) ขลู่, Ruellia tuberosa (Aca.) ต้อยติ่ง.Distribution:
ผีเสื้อแพนซีสีตาล เป็นผีเสื้อขนาดกลางค่อนข้างเล็ก ปีกด้านบนมีสีน้ำตาลเข้ม มีจุดตาใหญ่ที่ช่อง 2 ในปีกคู่หน้า และช่อง 5 ในปีกคู่หลัง และมีตาขนาดเล็กในช่อง 5 ของปีกคู่หน้าและ ช่อง 2 ของปีกคู่หลัง ผีเสื้อชนิดนี้พบอย่างกว้างของในเขตที่ราบ เนื่องมาจากพืชอาหารที่หาง่ายหลายชนิดที่พบทั่วไปดังมีรายชื่อด้านบน

Amazing decoration done by the adult female while she spent more or less half an hour laying these eggs on a climbing finger one of her larval foodplants, a passion-fruit genus. These eggs are sculptured and laid tidily. The leopard lacewing butterfly has wingspan of 60-80 mm. This is the most common species in the genus. The male is reddish while the female is yellowish-brown background. Eggs normally hatch in 4-5 days. The larvae have 5 instars developing for 15-20 days, the pupae lasting for 7-8 days and the adults living for 7-12 days. The whole life cycle takes 33-45 days. The larval foodplants include Adenia pierrei (Pas.) นางนูน, Passiflora foetida (Pas.) กะทกรก and Passiflora laurifolia (Pas.) เสาวรส.
ผีเสื้อกะทกรกธรรมดา ภาพไข่ของผีเสื้อที่วางไว้เพียงครึ่งชั่วโมงเท่านั้นที่มือจับของเถากะทกรก ช่างวิจิตรประณีตยื่ง ไข่แต่ละฟองมีผิวที่เป็นร่องตามแนวยาวเหมือนบรรจงเกาะสลักไว้โดยช่างที่ชำนาญ ไข่เหล่านี้เป็นผลงานของผีเสื้อหนอนกะทกรกธรรมดา ที่เลี้ยงง่ายพบทั่วไปในที่ที่มีพืชอาหารปลูกอยู่ แต่กะทรกรกที่มันชอบมักมีก้านเรียบชนิดที่มีขนน้อยเริ่มหายากเข้าไปทุกที เพราะเป็นพืชที่ขึ้นในที่ที่รกจนคนตัดฟันทิ้งไปเสียเกือบหมด ยังโชคดีที่หนอนผีเสื้ออาจจะกินใบพืชใกล้เคียงเป็นอาหารแทนได้ เช่น นางนูนและเสารส ผีเสื้อตัวเต็มวัยเพศผู้มีสีสดออกแดงหน่อย ส่วนเพศเมียมีสีออกเหลืองอ่อนปนน้ำตาล ระยะไข่ที่เห็นนาน 4-5 วัน หนอนมี 5 วัยใช้เวลารวมกัน 15-20 วัน เข้าดักแด้อีก 7-8 วันและออกมาเป็นตัวเต็มวัยใช้ชีวิตได้ 7-12 วันเท่านั้น ตลอดวงจรชีวิตใช้เวลา 33-45 วันซึ่งค่อนข้างสั้น หากจะเลี้ยงเพื่อศึกษาไม่นานเกินรอเลย

Family NymphalidaeThere are 12 subfamilies in this family, four of them are downgraded from the family taxa (Danaidae*, Satyridae*, Morphidae* and Libytheidae*). The rests are the former members of Nymphalidae. Some of them are raised up from genera level and its related genera especially Charaxes, Calinaga, Limenitis, Cyrestis and Apatura. There are 14 subfamilies. All of them are listed below.
วงศ์นิมฟาลิดี้ (Nymphalidae)
ผีเสื้อวงศ์นี้มีขาคู่หน้าไม่เจริญ มักลดขนาดลงอาจเหลือเพียงแค่ท่อนโคนขาจนบางคนเรียกว่า วงศ์ผีเสื้อสี่ขา อย่างไรก็ตามผีเสื้อต้องมี 6 ขาเสมอ จัดเป็นวงศ์ใหญ่มากที่มีขนาดตัวผีเสื้อแตกต่างกันมาก อุปนิสัยในการดำรงชีวิตก็แตกต่างกันเป็นกลุ่มๆ อีกด้วย ผีเสื้อวงศ์นี้ตามการจัดจำแนกในปัจจุบันได้รวมผีเสื้ออีก 4 วงศ์ซึ่งถูกลดระดับเป็นวงศ์ย่อยเข้ารวมไว้ด้วยได้แก่วงศ์ย่อยผีเสื้อลายเสือ ผีเสื้อจรกา วงศ์ย่อยผีเสื้อพุ่มไม้ วงศ์ย่อยผีเสื้อนางพญา และวงศ์ย่อยผีเสื้อหัวแหลม ผีเสื้อวงศ์นี้มีการแบ่งออกเป็นวงศ์ย่อยได้ 12 วงศ์ย่อยดังนี้คือ
