Gnatholea ebrurifera Thomson, 1861
A small hairy brown male, antennae brown, fringed with long hairs. Pronotum is swollen and rounded at the middle, elytra brown, basal elytral callosity single, sometimes not white or even obsolete, posterior callosities usually of 2 isolated narrow white stripes in the middle of each elytron. Length 17-23 mm. Distribution:
ด้วงหนวดยาวจุดขาวคู่บาง ด้วงหนวดยาวชนิดนี้มีขนาดค่อนข้างเล็ก มีสีน้ำตาลอ่อน ผิวลำตัวหยาบเป็นจุดแทงไปทั่ว มีขนละเอียดปกคลุมที่ปก อกและหนวด มีจุดขาว 1 จุดที่อยู่ที่ฐานปีก และอีกสองจุดคู่อยู่เลยกึ่งกลางปีกไปทางหลังของปีกแต่ละข้าง เพศผู้ดังแสดงในภาพมีหนวดค่อนข้างยาวกว่าลำตัว ในขณะที่เพศเมียมีหนวดยาวกว่าลำตัวงเล็กน้อย ด้วงชนิดนี้พบว่าเจาะกินเปลือกไม้ต้นกระบก ส้ม มะเดื่อ ไทร และเร็วๆ นี้พบเจาะกินเปลือกประดู่ที่ปลูกอยู่ที่ศาลายา นครปฐม

The white spot Batocera, Batocera rubus ด้วงบ่าหนามหลังจุดขาว ตัวที่ยังสดอยู่อาจจะไม่ใช่จุดขาวสนิทแต่เป็นขาวอมเหลือง
Batocera rubus (Linnaeus, 1758)
Dull purplish black to black; pronotum with a pair of blood-red spots depression on both sides of the median line; scutellum whitish; elytron with three to seven (usually four large) white spots, the second spot from the base usually the largest and sometimes overlapping with another one or more spots, the forth one near the apex rather small and rounded.Length 21-50 mm. Distribution: Malaysia, Sumatra, Java, Laos, Thailand (Wiang Pa Pao).
ด้วงบ่าหนามหลังจุดขาว เป็นด้วงบ่าหนามที่อกมีจุดบุ่มสีแดงเลือด จุดที่อยู่บนปีกที่เรามักจะคุ้นเคยว่าเป็นจุดสีขาว แต่บางครั้งในตัวอย่างสดใหม่จุดอาจจะออกสีเหลืองครีมแทนที่จะมีสีขาว อย่างไรก็ตามลักษณะจะบนปีไม่เหมือนด้วงชนิดอื่น โดยปีกแต่ละข้างมี 4-7 จุด จุดที่ 2 จากฐานปีกมีขนาดใหญ่ที่สุดและมักจะซ้อนกับจุดอีกหนึ่งหรือมากกว่าหนึ่งจุด จุดที่อยู่ใกล้ปลายปีกมักมีขนาดเล็กและค่อนข้างกลม พบทั่วไปในมาเลยเซีย อินโดนีเซีย ลาวและไทย

Confusing Batocera with orange spots ด้วงหนวดยาวป่าหนาม Batocera จุดสีส้มที่สับสน
The above four species are very close related each other and can be easily miss identified. However, the black raised spots and the number of orange spots on each elytron are the key chracteristics for identifying these Batocera beetles.
ด้วงบ่าหนามจุดสีส้มทั้ง 4 ชนิดข้างต้นนี้มีการจำแนกผิดบ่อยๆ?เนื่องจากจุดที่สับสนทั้งจุดนูนสีดำที่บริเวณฐานปีก จุดสีส้มขนาดและจำนวนที่แตกต่างกันเล็กน้อย

Body of adult is reddish-brown, head small, closely and strongly punctured above, antennal tubercles separated by a narrow but deep median groove, antennal segments 4-10 sharply angulate at apices; elytra broad slightly convex above. ด้วงหนวดยาวหนวดแบนย้อย เป็นด้วงหนวดยาวที่มีหนวดแปลกกว่าด้วงหนวดยาวชนิดอื่น คือปล้อง 3-6 ประมาณหนึ่งในสามของปล้องมีปลายเป็นมุมแหลมย้อยออกมา ปีกมีสีน้ำตาลแดงปกคลุมด้วยขนละเอียดสีน่ำตาลปนเทา ส่วนปลายปีกมีหนามแหลมปีกละสองอัน เป็นแมลงเจาะยอดและลำต้นมะม่วงชนิดหนึ่ง พบในลาว และไทย เช่น นครราชสีมา จันทบุรี

It is a reddish-brown species, with head small, closely and strongly punctured above, antennal tubercles separated by a narrow but deep median groove, antennal segments 4-10 sharply angulate at apices. Elytra are broad slightly convex above. The flying season starts when there is some early rains of the year usually in May-July. Once I was in a stormy rain in the afternoon of early May at Sai Yok, Kanchanaburi. There were hundreds of them flew to the light at that night and one of them has been illustrated above. ด้วงหนวดยาวอ้อย แมลงแม่แดดธรรมดา เป็นด้วงหนวดยาวที่ชอบแดดแต่ในขณะเดียวกันฝนแรกของฤดูร้อนที่ยาวนานโดยเฉพาะเดือนพฤษภาคมถึงมิถุนายนมีส่วนช่วยกระตุ้นให้ด้วงที่ออกจากดักแด้และยังหลบซ่อนตัวอยู่บินออกมาจากที่ซ่อนเพื่อผสมพันธุ์ ก่อนที่ตัวเมียจะเลือกที่วางไข่ต่อไป ตัวอ่อนของด้วงชนิดนี้เป็นศัตรูที่สำคัญที่เจาะกินอยู่ตามโคนต้นและเจาะกินลึกเข้าในลำต้นอ้อย รวมทั้งหน่อไม้ด้วย ประสบการณ์ครั้งหนึ่งที่ผมได้ไปพักแรมในป่าที่ไทรโยค กาญจนบุรี ในเดือนพฤษภาคมหลายปีมาแล้ว ช่วงบ่ายวันนั้นอากาศแปรปรวนมากมีฝนและพายุพัดอย่างแรงจนทำอะไรไม่ได้กับการสำรวจแมลง แต่พอตกค่ำ ไม่มีฝน และคืนนั้นสิ่งที่ไม่คาดคิดก็คือการมีด้วงหนวดยาวอ้อยและด้วงอีกหลายชนิดตัวเล็กตัวน้อยบินมาหาแสงไฟในเวลากลางคืนหลายร้อยตัว หนึ่งในด้วงที่พบคืนนั้นได้แสดงอยู่ในภาพข้างบนนี้แล้ว

Two long-horned beetles with confusing names ด้วงหนวดยาวสองชนิดที่มีชื่อที่สับสน
Megopis costipennis White, 1853. This is a ferruginous species. Elytra each with four costae, the outer one reaching the apex, whilst a second nearly does so, the remaining two being short; apex subtruncate near suture. This species name has been presented in the key of species of Megopis (Gressitt & Rondon, 1970) as follows: prothorax with basal and apical angles dentiforms processes. Although the literature wrongly revised by referring to the next species name. Because both of them are different species.?
ด้วงหนวดยาวกลมหนามคู่ ด้วงชนิดนี้มีเส้นนูนบนปีกสี่เส้น เส้นนอกสุดยาวถึงปลายปีก เส้นถัดเข้ามายาวเกือบสุดปลายปีก ส่วนอีกสองเส้นค่อนข้างสั้น ตัวผู้มีหนวดยาวกว่าลำตัว ในขณะที่ตัวเมียมีหนวดสั้นกว่าลำตัวเล็กน้อย ที่ด้านข้างของอกปล้องแรกมีหนาม 2 อันอยู่ที่ฐานและอยู่ใกล้ส่วนปลายด้านหน้า แตกต่างชัดเจนกับด้วงชนิดถัดไป แต่ก็มีนักวิทยาศาสตร์ไปอ้างอิงกับด้วงชนิดถัดไปโดยเอาชื่อวิทยาศาสตร์ของตัวนั้นมาใช้อยู่นาน

It is golden reddish-brown, pronotum with basal and apical angles dentiform process; elytra uniform colored with three raised costae of each elytron; scape without a spine near the apex. ด้วงหนวดยาวกลมหนามเดี่ยว ด้วงชนิดนี้ปีกมีสีน้ำตาลแดง มีเส้นนูนสามเส้น ที่อกปล้องแรกมีหนามอยู่ที่ด้านข้างของฐาน 1 อัน เป็นด้วงที่พบในป่าภาคเหนือ เช่นที่ดอยผ้าห่มปก และเวียงป่าเป้า ด้วงชนิดนี้มีชื่อที่ใช้ซ้ำซ้อนหรือใกล้เคียงกับด้วงชนิดแรกจนทำให้เกิดความสับสนขึ้น
