A perfect wasp-mimic surphid fly (Syrphidae) seen at Kaeng Krachan ภาพแมลงวันหัวหนา แมลงวันที่ปรับตัวเหมือนแตนสีเหลืองดำมากจากแก่งกระจาน
Ceriana sp., is a perfect wasp-mimic syrphid fly (Syrphidae) has been seen at Kaeng Krachan on my week-end holiday 4th-5th February 2012. Some syrphid fly has slim body, with constricted abdomen mimickling thread-waisted wasps (Specidae) and some vespid wasps (Vespidae) especially the Continentale Potter-wasp, Phimenes flavopictum continentale (Zimmermann, 1931). It is easy to distinguish from wasp by having rudimentary hind wings (hateres) which used for maintaining equilibium during flight.
ภาพการปรับตัวของแมลงวันดอกไม้ แมลงวันวงศ์นี้บางชนิดมีรูปร่างและสีเหมือนแตน เป็นการแปลงโฉมที่สมบูรณ์มากจนนึกไม่ถึงขณะที่ผู้เขียนถ่ายภาพระหว่างการเดินทางไปพักผ่อนสุดสัปดาห์ที่แก่งกระจานเมื่อวันที่ 4-5 กุมภาพันธ์ที่ผ่านมา ความจริงเพิ่งปรากฏเมื่อพยายามจำแนกชนิด แต่ก็ยังหาชื่อชนิดไม่ได้ เพียงแต่พบความจริงว่าไม่ใช่ต่อหรือแตนสีเหลืองดำที่มีส่วนท้องคอดกิ่ว ซึ่งเป็นลักษณะที่พบในต่อหมาร่า (Sphecidae) หรือแตนดินเหลืองคาบสมุทร แมลงวันทุกชนิดมีปีกคู่หลังลดรูปลงเป็นเพียงอวัยวะเล็กๆ ซึ่งใช้ในการทรงตัวในขณะบิน
