Red and black assasin bugs, Rhynocoris fuscipes มวนเพชฌฆาตแดงดำ แมลงตัวห้ำที่มีบทบาทที่สำคัญในการควบคุมศัตรูพืชโดยเฉพาะหนอนของผีเสื้อ

        Rhynocoris fuscipes (F.) are predaceus insects, one of common assasin bugs in Thailand and Malaysia. They are red with black especially at the posterior end of the abdomen, wings, legs, antennae, beak and other parts. The strong beak is efficient to suck on most of soft-bodied prey types, particularly caterpillars. The assasin bugs are beneficient insects which play an important role in pest control in agriculture.    
        มวนเพชฌฆาตแดงดำ เป็นแมลงตัวห้ำที่พบทั่วไปในแปลงปลูกพืชผัก และพืชสวนครัวทั่วไปในประเทศไทย และมาเลเซีย ลำตัวมีสีแดง แต้มดำ โดยเฉพาะที่ปลายท้อง ปีก ขา หนวด ปาก และส่วนอื่นๆ ส่วนของปากที่เป็นท่อแข็งแรง เมื่อไม่ใช้จะเก็บไว้ในร่องใต้ท้อง สามารถใช้เจาะดูดกินในต้วเหยื่อที่มีลำตัวนิ่มๆ เช่นหนอนผีเสื้อทั่วไปได้อย่างง่ายดาย จึงมีบทบาทที่สำคัญในการป้องกันกำจัดหนอนศัตรูพืชในการเกษตร
