The adults have both winged and wingless types. The winged type can have both yellow and black bodys while the wingless type the body is usually dark yellow. The end of the body, end of antennae and legs are black. They usually feed on young leaves and shoots of milk weeds, Asclepias spp. and giant Indian milkweed, Calotropis gigantea (L.).
เพลี้ยอ่อนรัก ตัวเต็มวัยเพศเมียที่มีปีกมีทั้งสีเหลืองและสีดำ ส่วนชนิดไม่มีปีกมีลำตัวสีเหลืองเข้ม รยางค์ส่วนปลายท้อง หนวด และขามีสีดำ พืชอาศัยเป็นต้นไม้ที่มียางเช่นต้นรัก และต้นเทียนแดง หรือไฟเดือนห้า ผู้ที่ปลูกเทียนแดงมักพบเพลี้ยอ่อนรักเกาะดูดกินน้ำเลี้ยงอยู่ตามดอกเทียนแดงเป็นประจำ บางครั้งอาจจะพบด้วงเต่าลายหกจุด Monochilus sexmaculatus (F.) จับกินเพลี้ยอ่อนรวมอยู่ด้วย ตัวอ่อนของด้วงเต่ามีสีขาว ดักแด้มีสีเหลืองอ่อนแต้มดำ เพลี้ยอ่อนมีหลายชนิดมีให้อ่านพร้อมรูปสวยๆ เพื่อเปรียบเทียบ ในหนังสือโรคและแมลงศัตรูพืชที่สำคัญ ฉบับปรับปรุง หนา 592 หน้า พิมพ์โดยสวนสัตว์แมลงสยาม มีจำหน่ายแล้วครับ

Toxoptera aurantii (Boyer de Fonscolombe)
There are two species of black citrus aphids known from Thailand which are Toxoptera aurantii and Toxoptera citricida. The latter also know as Brown citrus aphis can be distinguished from T. aurantii by their wholly black third antennal segment, which is clear whitish and with black tip in T. aurantii. Aphids in this genus not only feed on young citrus leaves, but also the vectors transmitting triteza virus disease. Photos of aphids are from pomelo growing in Mae Klong Area in Ratchaburi (18.i.10).
เพลี้ยอ่อนส้มสีดำ Toxoptera aurantii ตัวเต็มวัยมักมีสีดำสนิท มีทั้งชนิดมีปีกและไม่มีปีก ส่วนตัวอ่อนมีสีน้ำตาลแดง เป็น 1 ใน 2 ชนิดของเพลี้ยอ่อนสีดำศัตรูพืชตระกูลส้มที่รู้จักกันจากประเทศไทย ชนิดหนวดจางนี้มีจุดสังเกตคือหนวดปล้อง 3 มีสีขาวจาง แต่ปลายมีสีดำซึ่งแตกต่างจากเพลี้ยอ่อนส้มสีน้ำตาลToxoptera citricida ที่มีหนวดปล้อง 3 ดำทั้งปล้องแต่ปล้องสีมีสีจาง เพลี้ยอ่อนสีดำส้มมีความสำคัญมากซึ่งนอกจากดูดกินน้ำเลี้ยงจากใบอ่อนส้มแล้ว ยังเป็นแมลงพาหะนำโรคทริติซามาสู่ส้มด้วย ลักษณะอาการส้มที่เป็นโรคนี้คือใบเหลืองซีดคล้ายการธาตุอาหาร ขอบใบม้วนเข้าหากันคล้ายรูปถ้วย เส้นใบและใบอ่อนมีขีดโปร่งแสง กิ่งเริ่มแห้งตาย ระบบรากอ่อนแอ อาการที่ต้น ลำต้นจะเป็นคลื่น หรือมีร่องเว้า เมื่อแกะเปลือกออกจะพบลักษณะยุบตัวเป็นจุด หรือในทางตรงกันข้ามคือนูนคล้ายหนาม อาการมักปรากฎให้เห็นในส้มเขียวหวานและมะนาวที่มีอายุ 2 ปีขึ้นไป ภาพเพลี้ยอ่อนส้มสีดำ จากส้มโอที่ปลูกในเขตแม่กลอง จังหวัดราชบุรี

Cowpea aphid, groundnut aphid is a relatively small black aphid with the size rarely longer than 2 mm. The adult is usually shiny black, winged or wingless, while the nymph is slate gray. The legs and antennae are usually whitish with blackish tips. The cornicles are usually black. It resembles black bean aphid, A. fabae which occurs in Europe, West and eastern Asia, but the latter with darker nymphs. Found on many different host plants, including legumes and cucumbers. It feeds on the young shoots, leaves, inflorescences and fruits. It is also a vector of several viruses: broad bean mosaic virus, cucumber mosaic virus, groundnut rosette virus, etc. Cowpea aphid lives throughout the year. Female is generally parthenogenesis and producing living nymph, rather than eggs (viviparous). Distribution: Cosmopolitan, particularly well distributed through the tropical Asia including Thailand.
เพลี้ยอ่อนถั่ว เป็นเพลี้ยอ่อนขนาดเล็ก มีขนาดใหญ่สุดมักไม่เกิน 2 มิลลิเมตร ตัวเต็มวัยมีสีดำมัน มีทั้งมีปีกและไม่มีปีก ส่วนตัวอ่อนมีสีเทา ส่วนของขาและหนวดมีสีจางค่อนข้างขาวยกเว้นส่วนปลายที่มีสีดำ อวัยวะที่สำหรับปล่อยสารเพื่อป้องกันตัวมี 1 คู่อยู่สองข้างของปลายท้อง (cornicles) มีสีดำ เพลี้ยอ่อนชนิดนี้คล้ายกับเพลี้ยถั่วสีดำซี่งพบในยุโรป เอเชียตะวันไปจนถึงเอเชียตะวันออก (ญี่ปุ่น) แต่เพลี้ยอ่อนชนิดหลังมีตัวอ่อนสีดำด้วย พืชอาหารมีกว้างขวาง ส่วนใหญ่พบในพืชตระกูลถั่ว เช่นถั่วเขียว ถั่วลิสง และแตงกวา เป็นต้น เป็นแมลงพาหะนำเชื้อไวรัสมาสู่ถั่วด้วยหลายชนิด เพลี้ยอ่อนชนิดนี้พบตลอดทั้งปี เพศเมียออกลูกเป็นตัวมากกว่าออกลูกเป็นไข่ และเพศเมียเป็นเพศพรหมจรรย์คือสามารถออกลูกได้โดยไม่ต้องผสมพันธุ์ เขตแพร่กระจายพบกว้างขวางโดยเฉพาะในเขตร้อนชื้นของเอเชีย รวมทั้งไทย
